Coombe House School

From Tuesday 23 June 2026 to Thursday 25 June 2026 – the school will close at 1pm each day due to the extremely high temperatures forecast.

This decision has been made to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all pupils and staff during the period of exceptionally hot weather.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Should there be any further changes to the school’s opening arrangements, parents and carers will be notified as soon as possible via our usual communication channels.

We would also like to take this time to remind parents and carers of water safety for pupils and your families. While open water can appear appealing in hot weather, it remains cold enough to cause cold water shock, leading to rapid breathing difficulties, panic and potential drowning. During periods of hot weather, the risk of drowning can increase in children and young people. Last week, during Drowning Prevention Week the RLSS shared free resources in relation to water safety and the water safety code to raise awareness and educate children in water safety and lifesaving skills. You can access shareable water safety content, co-created with RNLI, HM Coastguard and RLSS, which you can use to help amplify the safety messaging. There are also videos focusing on weather water safety that you can share: water activity and at the beach. Thank you for the careful planning and leadership you are bringing to this period of hot weather to keep children and staff across Dorset safe and well.

Thank you for your continued support.
