Coombe House School

Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare and safety

Our safeguarding and child protection policy can be found here.

All schools have a statutory duty to promote and safeguard the welfare of children. We take this duty very seriously and are committed to safeguarding. We expect everyone who works in our school (and visitors to our school) to share this commitment. We take all safeguarding and welfare concerns seriously and encourage our pupils to talk to us about any worries they may have. We will always act in the best interests of the child. We understand the vulnerability of our pupils and security is a top priority at Coombe House School. Anyone visiting the school is required to sign in at reception and always wear a visitor’s badge whilst on the premises of Dorset Centre of Excellence.

Every member of staff is recruited through a rigorous recruitment process, which includes enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks. Training in safeguarding and child protection is provided and refreshed regularly but more than this our culture exudes a care for the individual pupil. We have qualified first aiders on site and any accidents or injuries that are sustained at the school will be recorded and parents informed.

We have a designated safeguarding lead and robust safeguarding practices in place to protect every pupil.

Martin Marshall is our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Rebecca Smith and Jemma Taylor are our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs). Please find their contact details below:
