I warmly welcome you to Coombe House School where I am privileged to be the Headteacher.
Coombe House School an independent special school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and those diagnosed with Autism. Set on the Wiltshire – Dorset border we are fortunate to be based on a large 55 acre site consisting of a walled garden, where we are developing an onsite farm provision, our own swimming pool and sports hall and extensive grounds and buildings that enable us to offer a wide range of opportunities for all of our pupils.
Here at Coombe House School we take a holistic approach to the pupils and their curriculum ensuring that positive relationships take priority and that allow pupils to feel safe and included in their education setting. Our aim is always to deliver a challenging curriculum to develop each pupil as an individual focusing on their bespoke needs and aiming to teach towards their stage and not their age allowing pupils to make progress towards their full potential over their time with us. Alongside our own curriculum we work with a range of educational partners to further enhance our offer to meet the needs of pupils – this may include mechanics, music tuition and work experience.
To be able to provide the best support to our pupils, the school has built its own Therapy team based on site to enable support to be available when needed. This support includes Speech and Language, Educational Psychologist and an Occupational therapist.
We base all of our work on the schools 3 core values, ensuring that these are at the heart of all of our work and decisions. These values are:
Since the schools inception in 2022, it has been our aim to ensure that we provide the skills that pupils require to be successful and thrive in the real world. With this in mind, community engagement is a crucial aspect of our day to day work ensuring pupils have the opportunity and access to community based activities working alongside members of the public, through visits, work experience and our life skills curriculum. We want to ensure that all of the pupils who attend Coombe House School have a long and successful life after and beyond their time with us and are able to positively engage and contribute to their local community.
Our mission for Coombe House School is to be the region’s leading special educational needs and disability (SEND) school, underpinned by teaching excellence, compassion and understanding for every pupil, every day.
